Doctor of chemical sciences, professor, honoured science worker of the Russian Federation, awarded with the State Prize of USSR, awarded with the Order of International Friendship and medals, head of the laboratory of Organoelement Elastomers (1971–1978), head of the K.A. Andrianov laboratory of Organosilicon Compounds (1978–2002).
He was an outstanding scientist in the area of high-molecular organoelement compounds, the founder of the metallasiloxane chemistry and silicon-organoelement polymers. Being a pupil, associate and follower of academician K.A. Andrianov business, active participated in establishment and development of this novel area of chemical science. By transactions of A.A. Zhdanov and his pupils were established groundworks of industrial technology of many organoelement materials production (coats, plastics, synthetic oils and resins) for modern equipment. Under the guidance of A.A. Zhdanov were defended more than 20 candidate of sciences (PhD) theses.
