Doctor of sciences, professor, author of USSR invention «Method for carbin synthesis» (1971), head of the laboratory of synthesis and medicine application of polymers (1978 — 1982).
Prof. Sladkov was a leading expert in organic and polymer chemistry. He had discovered and synthesized the third allotropic form of carbon — carbin. In addition he had studied germanium, silicon, copper, silver and gold derivatives of alkynes and discovered several new reactions, in particular: condensation of copper acetylenides with aryl and vinyl halides (Sladkov-Kastro reaction), silver acetylenides with diazonium salts, thermal depolymerization of alkyne derivatives. Prof. Sladkov had developed the methods for synthesis of higher alcohols by oxidation of organoaluminium compounds and the synthesis of new types of polymers, including carbon-chain polymers, poly-cumulenes, hetero-chain polyynes, and polyamines with dialkyne fragments in the chain.
