Doctor of sciences, professor, holder of the «Honored labor» medal, the head of the laboratory of molecular spectroscopy (1965 — 1983).
Outstanding scientist, Prof. Alexanyan was well-known expert in the field of molecular spectroscopy and both theoretical and experimental methods for investigation of molecular structure. He pioneered (together with academician B. A. Kazansky) in application of combination refraction spectroscopy for chemical analysis in particular of the oil compounds. His research was mainly devoted to the application of IR and combination refraction spectroscopy for investigation of reactivity of small ring systems, heterocycles and transition metal p-complexes. He has also studied the unstable compounds at low and super low temperatures and developed the theory of vibration interactions. In 1965 Prof. Alexanyan has organized the the laboratory of molecular spectroscopy of INEOS RAS.
