Doctor of sciences, professor, laureate of the State Prizes of USSR (1986) and Russian Federation (1996), holder of the “Red Labor Color” order, the member of editorial boards of several international journals, the head of the laboratory of organometallic synthesis of INEOS RAS (1960 — 1989).
Prof. Zakharkin began to work in INEOS RAS in 1954 and soon became one of the leading experts in carboranes and organoaluminium compounds in USSR. He has developed the industrial production of organoaluminium compounds required for production of many valuable materials. He had also studied the chemistry of flavor substances and telomerization of dienes. Prof. Zakharkin was the president of Dissertation council, Library council and a section of Scientific council of INEOS RAS. He was also responsible for PhD exams of the institute and the formation of professional scientific community of INEOS RAS.
