Established and developed in USSR together with M.E. Vol'pin a new direction in chemistry — synthetic and catalytic chemistry of intercalated layer graphite compounds, as a consequence of this, graphite complexes with transition metals was obtained for the first time. Designed a novel approach to the synthesis of intercalated compounds of layered semiconducting dichalcogenides of transition metals through their monolayer dispersing. This method allowed to obtain a broad array of such compounds for the first time.
