Terent’ev Alexander Borisovich (1932–2006)

  • Print

Doctor of sciences, professor, honorable inventor of USSR, laureate of the State Prize of USSR, holder of several medals, the head of the laboratory of homolitic reactions of organometallic compounds (1986 - 1990).

Prof. Terent’ev was a leading expert in radical chemistry taught by Prof. Freidlina. He is well known for his studies of telomerization of carbonic acids accompanied with radical rearrangement and 1,3-, 1,5- or 1,6-migration of hydrogen atom. He had developed the waste-less synthesis of higher branched carbonic acids and discovered the catalytic action of iron carbonyl in many reactions such as Reformatsky reaction and Zaitsev-Barbie reaction. Prof. Terent’ev began working in INEOS RAS right after graduation from Chemical department of Moscow state university in 1955.
