The laboratory develops a general approach to the synthesis of mono- and polynuclear complexes of transition metals. The approach is based on the reactions of cationic half-sandwich species [M(ring)]+ with neutral and anionic ligands. This method was used to prepare a vast variety of sandwich, half-sandwich, triple-decker, metallacarborane and cluster compounds. The complexes obtained are studied in detail by the theoretical (DFT, EDA) and physico-chemical (X-ray diffraction, electrochemistry) methods.
