Graduated from academician K.A.Andrianov’s faculty at Moscow Institute of Fine Chemical Technology in 1973. Since 1991, A.M.Muzafarov is the head of the laboratory of the synthesis of organoelement polymers in N.S.Enikolopov Institute of Synthetic Polymer Materials of RAS. In 1997, he defended a dissertation for the Doctor of Sciences degree in the form of scientific report entitled “Organosilicon dendrimers and hyperbranched polymers” in L.Y.Karpov Institute of Physical Chemistry. A.M.Muzafarov was elected a corresponding member of RAS in 2000 and a full member of RAS in 2011.
Research interests of A.M.Muzafarov are related to synthesis of organosilicon compounds. He is one of the pioneers in a novel macromolecular science, chemistry of organosilicon dendrimers and hyperbranched polymers. A variety of molecular nanoscale objects such as multiarm functional polymeric stars, molecular brushes, and nanogels were produced using methods developed by A.M.Muzafarov. In his studies, academician A.M.Muzafarov had formulated criteria of hyperbranching, substantiated existence of new organosilicon materials generation as well as expanded hyperbranched polymer synthesis strategy onto macromonomers.
In recognition of his scientific achievements, the Russian Academy of Sciences awarded him with S.V.Lebedev Prize in 1998.
Since 2013, аcademician A.M.Muzafarov is the Director of the Institute of Organoelement Compounds of RAS.
