Candidate of sciences, holder of seven medals including three for «Honorable service in USSR army», head of the laboratory of physiologically active compounds (1982–1995) and group of ecological chemistry (1995-2002).
Dr. Kolomiets was an outstanding scientist and public activist. He had discovered a new area of organic chemistry based on the use of highly electrophilic perfluorinated carbonyl derivatives. Along with research he had also worked in the group for clearing the Vietnam from USA chemical war-related agents. He initiated and developed multi-area programs for pharmaceutical and ecological aspects of production and application of organometallic compounds. Dr. Kolomiets wrote more than 200 papers and 150 patents. Together with academician Fokin he had written the book «Thiirane chemistry» (1978).
