basis for preparation of fibers, films, plastics, and coatings for molecular photonics,
electronics, electrical engineering, membranes, etc.

— Studies of specific role of low-molecular-weight compounds and water in aromatic
heterocyclic polymers.
- Synthesis of polyheteroarylene ionomers for fuel cell technology.
Scientific achievements:
— Development of novel catalytic methods for the synthesis of rigid-rod and ladder polyheteroarylenes.
— Creation of novel film-forming IPLON materials based on polynaphthoyleneimidobenzimidazole copolymers. The materials combine high strength and good elasticity and are soluble in organic solvents. Oriented IPLON films exhibit a tensile strength of 1.5 GPa, a modulus of elasticity of 38 GPa, and a tensile elongation of 4%, which is comparable to the corresponding characteristics of the best sorts of structural steels.
— Synthesis of polyheteroarylene ionomers for fuel cell technology with proton conductivity up to 150 mS/cm in the range 100-200 0C
— Design of new MEA construction for HTFC based on polybenzimidazole/phosphoric acid comlexes
