Scientific interests:
The chemistry of organophosphorus compounds, design of new types of organophosphorus extractants and sorbents for separation of lanthanides and actinides, chemistry of natural compounds, design of new types of organophosphorus bioregulators based on wood slash by disintegration.
Main scientific achievements and publications:
E.E. Nifantiev is an author of a monograph dedicated to the chemistry of organophosphorus compounds, a handbook on the 31P NMR spectroscopy, a number of textbooks on orgabic chemistry for schools, and about 750 papers on the key issues of the chemistry of organophosphorus compounds.
Scientific achievements of E.E. Nifant'ev include the discovery of reaction of alcoholysis of trivalent phosphorus amides, which is widely used in organic and bioorganic synthesis.
In recent years, he manages the works on the synthesis and study of fundamentally new type of extractants for concentrating of actinides, N-diphenylphosphorylureas, capable of efficiently extracting of corresponding radionuclides from acid media in the presence of considerable amounts of iron, nickel, chromium, aluminum, calcium, and magnesium.
