Doctor of chemistry, professor, the head of the Laboratory of π-complexes of transition metals of INEOS RAS (1999–2016).
He is the author of a large number of articles, reviews and patents. Under his supervision and with his participation, 10 candidate (PhD) and 3 doctoral dissertations were prepared. He developed an approach based on the generation of coordinatively unsaturated fragments of transition metals (in the form of their labile solvate complexes). This allowed to synthesize a wide range of various organometallic complexes with unique structures in high yields. Under his leadership, extensive research was carried out in the field of sandwich, half-sandwich, multi-decker, metallacarborane, cluster and other complexes of transition metals. In particular, triple-decker complexes of Group 8 metals with a bridging cyclopentadienyl ligand were described for the first time. Also, the discovery of polyhedral expansion in the series of metallаcarboranes with the formation of 13-vertex derivatives, studies of polyhedral rearrangements in metallacarboranes, as well as general approaches to the synthesis of arene complexes of transition metals are of particular note. A.R. Kudinov was a brilliant scientist with a broad outlook, his work was distinguished by the depth and thoroughness of research.
